4.8: Better

I guess I was right after all. I knew going back to work would help. It always does.

It just feels so good to be able to throw myself back into playing again. And with the kids back at school and Colette back at work too, I really think things are getting better. We all just needed a little space, I think.

Anyway, it’s great seeing my teammates again – on and off the field. I mean sure, we got together a handful of times over the summer too, but it’s always nice to fall back into our old routine. I really missed those guys.

And work’s been pretty great too, so far. We won our first two games, practices have been good, and I’ve been getting along really well with all my co-workers. Lots of old familiar faces, like I said. But some new ones too. It’s always kinda fun to meet the ‘new blood’, y’know? See how they click with the rest of the staff and the team…

So far the new psychical therapist’s been doing a decent job fitting in. She’s still kinda getting the hang of how we do things around here though. But that’s probably to be expected – Anna just transferred over to us after working in Champs Les Sims for a couple years. I’m sure we do things a bit differently than what she’s used to.

Still, I’ve had a lot of fun talking to her during our sessions – she’s hysterical! And she definitely knows it too. We’ve been hitting it off pretty well, but no matter how many times I tell her not to, she still calls me ‘Mr. Rosebrook’. It’s kinda cute, actually. And I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what she’s going for. I’ve definitely caught her staring at me a few times…

And you know what? I really don’t mind. It’s kinda nice to get that kind of attention again. God knows Lettie hasn’t given it to me in a while.

If only our new assistant coach was as friendly. He’s such a hard ass. Probably why Coach hired him on in the first place… It’ll definitely take some getting used to. But I’m up for the challenge.

So all-in-all, I guess things are pretty good right now.

I just hope Lettie’s feeling better too. She’s been smiling a lot when I see her at dinner and stuff, but I guess it’s kind of hard to say for sure.

We barely talk anymore.

    1. (“Liking” this felt wrong… But I like that you care/are concerned. Not the infidelity part haha). Hopefully this won’t turn into anything!

  1. No, Tobi don’t you dare cheat on Colette. Don’t you dare become one of those famous footballers that make all the tabloids with celebrity affair gossip. A footballer in the team I support recently cheated on his partner. When asked why the manager put him in reserve he said: ‘He can’t hold his wife’s hand, let alone the *insert technical football term for striking line here*.’ Do you want that? To talked about in the media behind your back? Do you? Do you?

Seriously Tobi, I thought you were better than all these celebrities who marry like 5 time, have 10 kids with different women and whose marriages never last more than a year. In fact, I KNOW you are better.

*turns on sinister warning voice and turns up ominous music*

Tobi, if you cheat on Colette and divorce her, it will be affair after affair after affair. And you will also become the butt of jokes in cynical panel shows like ‘Have I Got News For You.’ (It’s a British show, in case you haven’t heard of it.) And in schools, teens who have never met you will laugh at you too. You can save your marriage at the moment, because you both still love each other deep down, but you won’t be able to if you cheat on Colette. It will be the final straw.

(As you can tell, I am one of these cynical people who make fun of celebrity affairs in my spare time. 😀 )

I’m sorry if this comes off as offensive, I am just trying to talk some sense into Tobi because I love #TeamToCo so much. And my way of talking sense into someone is too give them a highly exaggerated sinister warning.

But hey, I love the drama. It’s makes your story so much more fun to read if I can worry about situations in my free time!

Sorry for the long comment 🙂

    1. Hahaha I loved your comment. I think you have some good advice for Tobi there. Mind you, he hasn’t done anything but innocently flirt with this girl. But it could easily escalate. And that would be quite bad, wouldn’t it? :-/

I love how much you care about #TeamToCo ! Thank you for reading ❤

    2. I was going to write a comment showing my disapproval but you just summed up (in a long comment) what I wanted to say! I agree with you 100%! 😀

  2. Okay, now i don’t see Tobi as the cheating kind, but if things doesn’t start to look up for #teamtoco, i fear he might look somewhere else for… Pleasures. And Anna seems really into him. Under the current situation, she just might be able to make a move.

    1. Tobi is definitely in a vulnerable situation right now… But I think you’re also right that Tobi isn’t really the cheating type… So who knows what might happen… (Oh wait, I do :P)

  3. Oh no. Don’t you dare do it Tobi. 😦 He most certainly would have had the opportunity before now with fan girls following him around but he was happy at home. He isn’t a one night stander like Josh was for awhile. But with Anna it’s different. She is there constantly and makes him feel good about himself when he and Colette’s relationship is strained. I know the opportunity will present itself for them to be together. Whether or not he acts on it will be telling. Marriages don’t often recover from an unfaithful spouse. Once the trust is broken, it’s almost impossible to restore. And how will Colette find out? Drama is coming soon to a blog near you. 😛

    1. That last line gave me a good giggle 😛 We’ll see pretty soon where, if anything, things go with this. One way or another, I do promise there’s some drama ahead 😉 (there always is… :P)

  4. Colette’s smiling and Tobi has a new therapist? I smell trouble. Don’t you two cheat one each other or you’ll be looking for marriages offices to file a divorce and trust me, you don’t want to throw away thousands of dollars for a divorce! I beg you two. Don’t do it. I want you two to stay together 4ever!!!

    1. We’ll see what happens! Sorry to put everyone through all this agony and wondering what’s gonna happen with them haha 😛

  5. If Tobi isn’t getting it at home, I think it’s only a matter of time before he looks elsewhere and especially when it’s directly in front of him with a new pretty, young therapist that makes him feel good about himself. I get the feeling that Colette isn’t into him anymore, but then we’ve not really heard anything from her side of story to know whats going on with her. But it’s possible she might not love him anymore! I can’t wait to see what happens next!! And I don’t know why everyone is getting angry with Tobi, his actions are pretty normal for someone in his position. If he’s feeling rejected, honourable person or not, sometimes you need to feel good about yourself again. He is in a very vulnerable place right now.

    1. You offer a really interesting perspective! We are gonna get Colette’s side of the story in two chapters, so it won’t be long before we learn her feelings on the whole thing.

Tobi is most definitely vulnerable right now. He’s in a very difficult position…

  6. Oh boy oh boy oh boy… Pretty French redhead rubbing your feet? That can’t be good…

I hope Tobi and Colette figure things out before either of them does something they’ll regret 😦

  7. Tobi, don’t you dare! I don’t think that tobi is generally the cheating type, but depending on the situation he might do something stupid.

    1. Ahhhh! A new reader! *over excited* Hi! 😀 Thank you so much for reading! ^_^

In answer to your question… If you’re talking about Tobi and Colette, Jocelyne made mention in one of her journals that things are “weird” between her parents, but she’s convinced herself it’s just her dad being stressed about the soccer season starting again. Little does she know…

  8. Hmm…I don’t think Tobi will end up doing anything (that’s my hope at least). However, it would be interesting if he was caught in a situation that looked inappropriate for a married man, but wasn’t that in the end (if that makes sense? XD Basically a misunderstanding) I truly believe he and Colette still love each other, but are having a hard time at the moment. Lack of communication can do that and I’m curious to know what started this lack in the beginning, everything begins somewhere even if it slowly progresses over time…

I can understand that the both of them may feel a need for feeling wanted and/or looked at by someone whose interested in them with there lack of intimacy (even just in the cuddling, loving way – not everything has to be sexual ;P ) – The need to just feel appreciated. However, I shall have my fingers crossed things work out ok for them and they both keep it in their pants 😛 XD 😉

I’m really looking forward to reading Colette’s POV 😀

    1. Thanks Nessy! I think they’re still in love too. They’re just in a tee ally rough spot right now. your idea about a misunderstanding is really interesting! You never know what will happen 🙂

  9. Aye Tobi! No looking at other woman, okay? No thinking about other woman. Only your wife, okay?
“And I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what she’s going for” and you tell me what you mean by this! No giving other woman want she wants, okay? I have my eyes on you! Okay? Okay!
    😂 😜

  10. Smells like trouble. Not sure why he thinks that getting back to work is helping – by the sounds of it it seems like more of an excuse to talk to his spouse even less. I wonder what Colette is thinking.

    1. Tobi’s definition of “better” is very skewed Hahahaha. Basically he doesn’t have to think about his marriage problems as much because he has work to distract him… For poor delusional Tobi, that’s “better” :-/

    1. Hopefully you won’t have to!!! But we’ll see… haha thanks so much for reading! Even though this storyline is very frustrating 😛

    1. Hahaha well, she’s not THAT young. But pretty dang young (I think I actually say it in an upcoming chapter? She’s like 23 or 24. So like 10 years younger than him… Bad Tobi!)
