Well, I guess it’s like I said before – time just seems to be slipping by so quickly these days.
It feels like one minute we were back at the end of May, celebrating Mark’s birthday. Now July’s almost over, and we’re celebrating Zayne’s.
My little boy’s twenty-four years old now. Can you believe it?
Just like every year, I ended up thinking a lot about Luc and Hazel. My heart just breaks knowing they aren’t here to see the incredible young man he’s grown into. He’s certainly had his up and downs over the years, but he’s such a hard worker and such a kind soul. Stubborn, sure… And with a few hints of Oma’s famous temper every now and then. But he’s such a genuinely good person. And I’m just so proud of him. I know they would be too.
And he really seems to be doing well lately – which is a nice change compared to what we’ve been seeing.
Zayne’s been stuck in something of a ‘slump’, I guess. We’ve all been a little worried. I think a lot of it has to do with his career. He works so hard at his job, but I think he’s getting bored with it or something… Just the way he’s been talking about it lately. But if any of us tries to suggest a change, he won’t listen.
Mark says he’ll figure it out, and that we can’t force him to do anything. And I know he’s right. It’s just frustrating to see Zayne having such a hard time.
But things have been taking a big turn ever since he started talking to Hope. She’s this girl he met about a month or so ago (though Zayne tells us they actually met once before, back when he was a kid). She lives all the way in San Myshuno, he said. Apparently she’s a model… Sounds like every guy’s dream, doesn’t it? Mark and Papa had a lot of fun teasing him about it. But from what Zayne’s told us, she definitely doesn’t sound like what you’d expect a model to be like.
Anyway, she was in Windenburg for business, and they really seemed to hit it off. He’s been talking about her all the time, and I’ve noticed her posting on his Facebook a lot lately. They’re so far apart, but it still feels like they’re inseparable.
Even last night when we had him over for his birthday, he spent half the time on his phone talking to her. It’s very sweet, actually.
It got maman and Papa doing a lot of reminiscing about the long distance relationship they had back when they were kids… But Zayne keeps laughing it off and saying she’s not his girlfriend.
He’ll go on and on about how funny and smart and gorgeous she is, sure… But the minute one of us tries to ask, he’ll shut us down. “It’s not like that,” he kept saying.
But Papa wasn’t buying it. “Yeah, that’s exactly what I used to say about your Oma,” he said. “And look at us now.”
I guess we should stop giving him such a hard time about it. Girlfriend or not, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen Zayne so happy. He really needed this, I think.
It’s been almost a year since he broke up with Amy, and it took him months to be able to move past it. Between the breakup and being frustrated with work, I think he was just really lost for a while.
And now, well… maybe Hope will be the one who helps him find his way again.
Ha!!! This comment is perfect 😛 Great advice for Zayne 😉

So I know this is just a game, but does Zayne have a trust fund, so to speak? I’d imagine if he did, it could be a decent amount to say…open his own resturaunt?

“Just a game”… 😛 It’s so much more than that to me haha so your question is valid 😂 Zayne has an account with a ton of money in it from his parents. He didn’t have access to it until he turned 18, but he is saving most of the money for now/trying to be responsible and careful with it (I already know how he’s going to ultimately spend the money… but Zayne doesn’t 😛 )
Your restaurant idea is a good one! We will see!

Haha it is, it is!! Terribly sad I didn’t get to spend time with my own legacy family today, but you know, this adulting thing gets in the way sometimes.
I thought he might, I wasn’t sure if was addressed at the start of this arc, but I figured he would. Ohh I just can’t wait to see where everyone is headed to next!

It always fun to watch family picking at a possible budding romance, but in my experience they better stop poking holes or this ship will sink before it leaves the port! 😜
Looks like Joce is starting to look her age hehe😝 Not that she didn’t look old just those glasses are just a bold letter saying saying old!

Hahaha hopefully no hole-poking will come from the family’s teasing 😛 And hey, poor Joce isn’t old! She’s only 49. She’s just mature 😛

Zayne and Hope are so cute! Now we just have to hope that Alex or Tony’s next boyfriend isn’t Hope’s father.

Ha! Hope’s father is happily married, so I think we are safe 😛

Well I HOPE they see each other soon 😉 I also HOPE Zayne and Hope have caution and don’t start the next generation too early. Finally, I HOPE Zayne finds his calling and gets out of his work funk (work funks suck). I smell a pseudo entrepreneur (or at least i HOPE I do).
Okay, I’m done. I just couldn’t resist anymore, especially with the family teasing him, too. Sorry, Zayne, but I love puns.

😒 << That is what Zayne thinks of your lame puns 😛 He's had to deal with enough from the fam, thanks 😉 Hehe

I think Hope is going to be so good for him. They just need to tell each other that they like each other. XD

Yes, right now they are stuck in a weird are-we-friends-or-more? place… Hopefully something will change soon 😛

Looks like Zayne finally has things together. I wonder if he’s irritated with his job because he’s not getting promoted the way he’d prefer to? I remember a few chapters back there was some mention he basically had to beg to just be a line cook. So it sounds like he’s being denied any chance to prove himself the way he might want to.
Maybe the previous poster is right and Zayne should start his own restaurant. Maybe he could go to cooking school first…

There’s a chapter coming where Zayne gives us more details about his issues with his job. I think you’re on the right track though — it’s hard for him to move forward right now. Poor kid.

Yay finally caught up! I have no idea how I ended up being so far behind, but bulk-reading these chapters was great!

Hey! I’ve been quietly following this legacy for a while, and I’m a huge fan! Glad to see Zayne is thriving.
Quick question – do you have everyone’s traits/aspirations/etc. up anywhere? I’ve always been curious, haha!

Oh yay! Thank you so much for reading! It means a lot to me that you are reading and enjoying it ^_^
As for traits and stuff, I don’t have a place where they’re shared but if you have a character you’re curious about I can answer 😛 Sometimes I end up ignoring one of the rolled traits or really exaggerating another (plus since these characters are supposed to be human instead of sims, they truly have so many more traits than just three!)
The only character I’m staying a bit secret on is Zayne 🙂 his third trait is important to a future arc and I don’t want to hint at it 😛
Thank you again! 😀

I know I was supposed to be concentrating on Zayne’s story … but I get so sidetracked when I catch even the slightest glimpse of Joce and Mark … sigh … I ship them so much.

Ah, the benefits of life keeping me from reading each day. Now I get to binge read! I love Zayne’s family teasing him about Hope. These Rosebrooks are adorable.

Hehehe well you only have two to binge 😛 (But a new one is coming tomorrow!). And yes, they are very cute with this. 😉 They’re being so teasing, but they’re all really so happy and are hoping things work out 😀

I know I’m late to the party – but I love Joce’s new look! She’s so adult. It has to be a challenge to get a sim still looking like themselves to age up through the generation. You do a great job at that!

I hope HoZay find a way to be together soon and hopefully the work situation will get better … open his own little restaurant or something. And btw “No Stars Over Uptown” has been added to my favorites list for future reading, Thank you.

Hopefully everything will be okay! I mean, with me as the author, what’s the worst that could happen…? 😇😬😉
And yay! Uptown is my personal favorite. But be warned, it’s very dark and very, very adult/nsfw. A2A is a Nick Jr toddler show by comparison 😂

Yeah, you as author… that part does worry me. ok I’m totally ready to take on Uptown but I’m determined to get caught up with A2A first. I’m doing pretty good, I can see the light (faintly)

You’re getting closer and closer! Gen 5 is a mountain haha I will admit to you right now that if I could go back and do things over again, I’d have had Zayne’s generation move more quickly. I wanted to slow down a little, but I ended up slowing down too MUCH. So apologies in advance and I appreciate you so much for all the time you’ve put in to read!❤️
