5.14: While We Still Can

Dear Diary,

Ugh! You know I try so hard not to complain all the time, but Zayne’s really been getting on my nerves. He’s been acting so friggin’ weird lately. (Yeah, yeah, I know he’s always weird… But weirder than normal, I guess.)

It all started last month, right after his birthday. You remember that, right? When the four of us (yes, four! I still can’t believe Zayne talked Tony into drinking with us!) got drunk off our asses on that vodka (Also known as “dumbest fucking mistake ever”).

Anyway, it all started around then, I guess. He’s been… I don’t wanna say ‘challenging’ mom and Mark, but… I don’t really know how else to describe it. It’s like he’s pushing or something, trying to see how much they’ll let him get away with (and considering the fact that mom usually lets him get away with anything, that’s saying something!)

It’s just little things so far. Staying up late, even after mom and Mark tell him to go to bed. Sneaking food into his room when they tell him not to. ‘Forgetting’ to tell everyone where he’s going when he goes out with his friends… It’s getting a little ridiculous.

I know Zayne can be a pain in the ass, but this just brings it to a whole new level. Know what I mean?

He’s basically had mom wrapped around his finger for years, but even she hasn’t been able to keep her cool about all this stuff. She’s been yelling at him way more than I’ve ever seen before. And the more she yells, the more he ends up pushing and… yeah. It’s kind of a mess.

I’ve tried talking to him about it, but every time I do, he ends up either shrugging me off or biting my head off… So I gave that up pretty quickly.

I’m pretty sure I kinda get what’s going on though. He’s always whining about being treated like a little kid… It’s like he thinks some kind of switch got flipped when he turned sixteen. Like he’s magically an adult now or something. But that’s not how it works… at all! I don’t even think it happens when you’re eighteen either. Definitely not at seventeen, I can tell you that much!

I remember I used to kinda think it worked that way… I thought one day I’d magically wake up feeling like an adult. For me, it was last year, when Ben and I decided to start having sex. I really thought losing my v-card would make me feel older… But it didn’t. And you know what? I don’t think I ever felt more like a terrified little girl than I did the day I sat mom down and told her I wanted to start birth control.

I guess the more I think about it, the more I don’t get why Zayne’s in such a damn rush about this whole thing. What’s so bad about being a kid for a little longer anyway? Yeah, mom can be a pain in the ass (dad too… no matter how ‘cool’ he tries to be whenever we’re over there. Ugh) but is having her and Mark as parents really so bad?

At least he only has two of them to deal with. And at least they’re together. And at least he gets to stay with them all the time. He sees mom more than any of the rest of us do! And he doesn’t have to deal with stepparents or a whiny half-brother or being shuffled back and forth between houses or –

Anyway, the point is, no matter how annoying parents can be, dealing with all their nagging is worth the trade-off. Isn’t it?

No rent or bills to pay. Having someone else cook your meals for you, or do your laundry, or call and make your doctor appointments. Having a parent to take care of you when you’re sick, or help you with a science project, or drive you and your friends to the movies… And not having to deal with all those adult responsibilities yet, y’know?

I mean, someday we’ll all have to grow up, sure. And adults do plenty of little things to help us get ready for that. They don’t baby us all the time… Just enough that we can still be a kid and have a little fun while we still can!

What’s so terrible about that?

Surprise! New POV Character! 😛

BIGGER Surprise… My first ever Casting Call!

Remi and River will have some more ‘screentime’ as the gen rolls on, and part of this will include College parties and shenanigans 😀 The problem? I need a bunch of YAs to play the part of their university friends/acquaintances who get into said shenanigans with them 😉

Here are the requirements (there aren’t many!):
-Must be a YA (think Uni/College-aged, so 18-22 years old or so)
-Any gender/appearance/personality 🙂
–I’m gonna ask for no cc, but if there is some piece of cc that your sim absolutely NEEDS (haha), then message me on The Sims forums with a link so I can download it! 🙂
-If you have a preference of your sim’s orientation (those college parties can get wild! 😉 ) please indicate it in your sim’s description. Otherwise, I’ll just go with whatever 😛
-Please upload only one or two sims! I don’t want way too many 🙂
-Please upload to the gallery under the hashtag #A2ACastingCall
-Please submit your sims by 12PM EST Thursday, December 29th (So you have two and a half days!)

I will try to use every sim that’s submitted (unless I get too many! If I do, I’ll make the deadline sooner and/or only choose ONE sim from people who submitted two). Most submitted sims will be background characters with no/very few speaking lines. However, I plan on choosing a couple of them to have small roles as closer friends (maybe love interests? 😉 ) to my characters. That part is somewhat luck-of-the-draw, so just keep that in mind!
