Interlude: Truth or Dare

01-27-17_5-01-57-pmDing dong!

“Christ, what now?!” Remi cried out over the music and chatter as he headed toward the front door.

Zayne fought to suppress a guilty cringe at the sound. He’d learned the hard way that when his cousins had said they wanted to invite “a few people” to their parents’ house, they’d literally meant a few people.

01-27-17_5-08-21-pm

Unfortunately he hadn’t realized that when he opened the invitation to several of his friends… Who in turn extended it to several of theirs.

And so poor Remi and River had been forced to stand by and watch as the partygoers drank all of their parents’ expensive alcohol, ate all the food in the fridge… and wandered downstairs into Florian’s recording studio.

“Shit! Papa’s gonna kill us!” River had cried as her brother ran downstairs to retrieve the rogue party guests.

01-27-17_5-10-56-pm

They’d used book cases to barricade both sets of stairs after that one. Maintaining damage control of one floor of the house was proving difficult enough… Especially with the seemingly endless string of new arrivals.

“Who the fuck let word get out about this?” River grumbled as her brother finally reached the front door.

Zayne shrugged, keeping his expression as neutral as possible. Beside him, Victoria almost looked as though she wanted to say something. To his relief, however, she remained silent.

01-27-17_5-12-58-pm

“Um… hi.” An uncertain voice called from the open front door. “You must be Remi?”

Zayne drew closer, his curiosity getting the better of him. This woman sounded much too old to be a party guest.

“M-Mrs. Gerber?”

“Remi! Hi!” Zayne watched as Rory practically threw herself at her big brother. He noticed that she was already in her pajamas.

01-27-17_5-15-10-pm

Rory?! Oh shit. Zayne felt his eyes widen in surprise as he continued watching.

“Sorry if I’m, uh… interrupting something?” The older woman continued. “I tried calling the house phone, but no one was answering… Aurora had a nightmare, and wouldn’t go back to sleep. She just kept saying she wanted to come home…”

Please don’t tell Mila I’m a baby, Mrs. Gerber.” The little girl begged.

01-27-17_5-17-00-pm

“Never.” Her friend’s mother assured her. “I think she was too sleepy to even notice we left. Her Papa got her right back into bed. So don’t worry.” Mrs. Gerber smiled.

“Th-thanks for bringing Rory back home, Mrs. Gerber… We, um… appreciate it.” Remi’s smile was so forced. “And thank you for having her.” He ushered the woman out the door without another word, closing it behind her with a small bang.

“What the fuck are we gonna do, Remi?!” River raced to her brother’s side immediately. “She can’t stay here tonight!”

01-27-17_5-19-11-pm

Oblivious to her siblings’ panicking, Rory practically ran across the room to Zayne, beaming at him. “Hi Zayne!” She called sweetly, then gave a small wave to Charlie, who stood just a few feet away. “Is this a party? I love parties! Who are all these people? Will you introduce me?! What’s everyone drinking? Can I have some?” Her sentences strung together into a barely-intelligible mush of words.

Without warning, she reached for one of the cans on the coffee table, raising it to her lips.

01-27-17_5-20-08-pm

“Rory, NO!” Five voices cried out in unison as Zayne, Charlie, Ben, Remi, and River raced forward to stop her.

“GROSS!” Rory dramatically threw the can to the ground. “It tastes like somebody mixed together cough syrup and cat pee!”

Despite everything, her siblings and cousins couldn’t help but laugh at her description.

01-27-17_5-29-12-pm

“That’s right.” River agreed. “It’s disgusting.”

“Then why do you drink it?” The little girl asked.

Remi smiled. “It’s a grown-up thing.”

“But… Zayne’s not a grown up.”

“Huh? What do you mean?” Victoria asked curiously.

Zayne felt fairly certain he was going to die. Oh fuck.

“He’s not a grown up.” She repeated. “I know he really wants to be, but he’s –”

01-27-17_5-30-27-pm

“Hey Rory, I hear you like Void Critters.” Coleen’s sweet voice suddenly cut-in, interrupting whatever proclamation the little girl was about to make. “Is that true?”

Zayne could have kissed her.

“Uh-huh!” Rory smiled proudly. “Remi and River taught me how to play! Do you wanna see?!”

“I’d love to. Let’s go up to your room and check it out.”

01-27-17_5-35-08-pm

Thank you. River mouthed gratefully to her girlfriend as the two of them headed toward the stairs.

“Hey, why’s there a bookshelf here?!” Rory’s cry of confusion was the last they could hear from the pair as their voices slowly melded with the sounds of the rest of the party.

Remi let out a slow, deep breath. Had he been holding it? “Jesus, that was close… Riv, you call Onkel Auggy. I’ll check with Tante Jossy… We’ll see if either one of them can take Rory for tonight.”

01-27-17_5-37-32-pm

His sister nodded in agreement. “We’re not gonna tell them about the party though… Right?”

“Are you kidding? They’d tell Mama and Papa in a heartbeat!”

With a final nod of confirmation, the twins pulled out their phones and headed off in search of quiet corners where they could make a phone call.

Zayne’s heart was racing so loudly in his chest, he felt certain the entire party would be able to hear it. Maybe Victoria didn’t notice. He told himself. Little kids say dumb stuff all the time. Maybe she –

01-27-17_5-40-01-pm

“Zayne?” Her voice nearly made him jump. “What the hell was that about?”

To Zayne’s horror, a few of his friends in the area around them seemed to be looking in their direction. Had they heard Rory too? Fuck fuck fuck.

“No idea.” All he could do was hope he sounded natural. He forced a small laugh. “Gotta love kids, right?”

Unfortunately, Victoria did not look entirely convinced. “I guess… I just –”

01-27-17_5-41-58-pm

Ding dong!

Zayne had never been more grateful to hear the doorbell in his entire life.

Unfortunately Remi did not seem to share his enthusiasm. “J-just a second, Tante Jossy.” He muttered, placing his hand over the receiver for a moment. “Zayne… Get the door and tell whoever it is to go the fuck home.” In an instant, his false cheerfulness returned as he returned to his conversation. “Sorry about that… Yeah, he’s right here. I’ll tell him you said hi. Uh-huh. Just a few friends, yeah… No big deal…”

The rest of the conversation faded away as Zayne headed for the door.

01-27-17_5-45-51-pm

The face on the other side was one of the last he’d been expecting to see. “Dom?!”

“Hey, sorry I’m late.” His friend smiled. “Had to basically sneak out… You know how my parents can be.” Dom rolled his eyes.

Zayne forced a small laugh. “Yeah. Well… I’m glad you could make it.”

01-27-17_5-47-21-pm

What the hell? Who invited him? Did I invite him and forget?! Panic began bubbling up inside of him. What was he supposed to do now? He couldn’t ignore Dom, could he? But then, what if people started questioning why he was hanging out with someone so young? What if they figured out they’re the same age? What about Victoria?

01-27-17_5-48-07-pm

One hour and several drinks later, Zayne no longer cared.

And thankfully, neither did any of the other party guests. Aside from a few curious whispers of “Hey, who invited the kid?” no one really commented on Dom’s presence at the party.

01-27-17_5-53-37-pm

In fact, after Remi returned from dropping Rory off with Auggy and Noah, Branden practically dragged Dom into their game of Truth or Dare. “We’ve gotta get the kid in on this! Come on!” By that point, Remi and River had given up on any attempt at stopping the party, so they each grabbed a drink and joined the others. Zayne somewhat uncertainly followed suit.

“Alright, I’ll go first.” Leah called out before anyone else could volunteer. “Let’s see… Natalie. Truth, or dare?”

The girl bit her lip nervously. “Oh gosh. Um… Dare, I guess?”

01-27-17_6-00-21-pm

Without another word, Leah crossed over to the bar and pulled out a glass. She began pulling bottles of varying sizes and colors from behind the counter, pouring a bit of each into the cup. After three, Zayne lost count of how many different types of alcohol she’d mixed together. At last, she carried it back over to the group.

“Drink this.” She said with a smile.

Natalie eyed the glass skeptically. “What is it? It looks horrible.”

Exactly. Just drink!”

She took a deep breath and did what she was told.

01-27-17_6-02-56-pm

The rest of the party guests whooped and hollered in excitement as she choked down the mystery concoction. “Oh my GOD.”

“That will make the rest of your night interesting…” Leah giggled. “Alright, it’s your turn.”

Finally recovering from her disgust, the other young woman scanned the crowd thoughtfully for a few moments. At last, her eyes rested on Mateo. “Okay, Mateo. Your turn. Truth or dare?”

“Truth.” He winked at her. “Ask away.”

01-27-17_6-05-01-pm

Zayne silently began to panic as he wondered what would happen when it got to his turn… But he tried his best not to think of it as he waited for her to finally choose a question.

“Okay… Where did you have sex for the first time?” She asked at last.

“Hmm. Depends. How do you define ‘sex’?”

“I dunno… However you want to, I guess.” Natalie shrugged. “Just make it good. We want the whole story.”

01-27-17_6-05-46-pm

Mateo took another swig of his drink before replying. “Okay, how about this one? I was fifteen, skipping out on my bio lab… so I decided to hide out in one of the empty classrooms. I think it was a French class or something. There were a bunch of posters I couldn’t read.” He shrugged. “Anyway, turns out this girl about two years older than me – Melissa, I think her name was – she had the same idea I did. Ended up hiding out from her algebra test in the same room I was. We were both bored as hell, so we started talking. One thing led to another, and the next thing I know, she’s giving me a damn hand job right there in the back of the classroom.”

01-27-17_6-08-58-pm

“Ha! No freaking way!” Rich laughed heartily along with the others.

“Oh, it gets better.” Mateo continued, joining in his friends’ laughter. “The bell rings right as we’re, uh, ‘finishing up’… BAM. Students come pouring in getting ready for class. And we were still sitting in the back corner with her hand down my goddamn pants!”

The air was suddenly full of applause and laughter. “Ha! Those poor kids… Scarred for life!”

“Oh my God, Zayne, could you imagine walking in on a scene like that when we get to Fessler’s class Monday morning?” Dom could barely control his laughter.

01-27-17_6-49-01-pm

A sudden quiet seemed to descend upon the room at his words.

Zayne’s eyes widened as he realized exactly what Dom had just said. Oh my God.

Without warning, the quiet was replaced by curious murmurs and questions… And that was even worse.

01-27-17_7-03-38-pm

“Didn’t you say you were taking a gap year, Zayne?”

“Who’s Fessler? That’s not one of our professors, is it?”

“Dude, isn’t this kid like fifteen or something?”

“Remember what that little girl said? ‘Zayne’s not a grown up’…?”

“Holy SHIT, no way…”

But one voice stood out among all the rest. “Zayne, what the hell?!”

01-27-17_7-04-45-pm

He wasn’t sure whether he was going to puke or cry or laugh or scream. Maybe all of them at once.

“Does this mean what I think it means?!” Victoria continued, looking at him as though seeing him for the very first time. “I mean, I never thought I’d even have to ask, but… How old are you, Zayne?”

01-27-17_7-06-58-pm

His throat was so dry. How could he even find his voice? “I, uh… Um…”

“How old?!”

“S-sixteen.”

01-27-17_6-57-44-pm

The laughter that filled the air was deafening. It was cold and cruel and cut right through him. After months of pretending, the truth was finally out… In the worst possible way.

“You LIED to me?!” Victoria practically shrieked.

“He lied to all of us.” Damion narrowed his eyes at Zayne as he spoke. “Was anything you told us true?”

01-27-17_7-12-27-pm

Victoria shook her head slowly. “I bet you don’t even work at that restaurant, do you?!”

“I do! I… I just… I wash the dishes.” Zayne hung his head in shame. This can’t be happening. Please, tell me this isn’t happening.

“Hey, this explains why he puked all over Gavin and Erin at Remi’s party! Poor kid can’t even hold down a few drinks…”

“Probably never even saw a real pair of tits before either!”

“And I guess that’s why he always bails so early at every party… Needs time to fit in a bottle before bedtime!”

01-27-17_7-26-57-pm

“Jesus, Vic… You dated a kid?! Aren’t there laws about that where you come from?”

“Hey, lay off! Why is everyone being such a dick?”

He’s the dick! He lied to us!”

“What’s your problem, Zayne? Why couldn’t you just tell us the truth?!”

“Guess he doesn’t have the balls. Maybe they haven’t dropped yet. Ha!”

01-27-17_7-17-10-pm

The cries of confusion, anger, and amusement continued.

But Zayne did not stick around to hear any more of them.

    1. Oh yes, and what a harsh lesson this was! Haha. We’ll find out how Zayne does on the next step, once he recovers from his mortification 😛

  1. #FAIL Oh boy, what a disaster! I’m so sorry that Zayne had to suffer, but he had to pay the penalty for ALL the lies he told. I told you Zayne that these lies will come back and BITE you in the butt!!! You know what he needs to do? Get his act together and go back to his precious Tante Joce! Idk how Joce will react to all this lying mania. I hope she won’t become Hurricane Jocelyne with heavy, damaging winds and heavy rains.

    1. Haha “disaster” is the perfect description for it! He totally brought this on himself, but part of me still feels bad for him too… We’ll see what the poor kid does from here 🙂

  2. Unlike others here, I don’t feel bad for Zayne. Karma’s a real ass-biter, ain’t it? He should’ve know it was all going to fall apart sooner or later.

I can only imagine how PISSED Jossy (and probably Mark too) is going to be. Who knows, maybe even his parents are face-palming from beyond the grave.

    1. Hahaha he really did bring this on himself, so I get it! As for how Joce will react if she finds out… Well, it could go a few different ways. Maybe we’ll see? (And yes, Luc and Hazel are probably face-palming and pulling their hair out right now XD)

  3. Busted! 😲Poor Zayne, now the butt of everyone’s jokes. His name may even become a verb amongst the community. “You wouldn’t be Zayneing me now would you?” Lol.

How did you get so many sims in one place? I was amazed at the size of that party! That one will go down in history.

So…He had to know his house of cards would fall at some point. But the tears? Really? He should of sucked it up and laughed with them instead of crying and leaving. Of course he was mortified though and I guess he is just 16. 🤣 Sorry couldn’t help that one.

I love all the different screenshots of everyone either laughing about it or being upset by it. At least his family feels bad for him but probably feel guilty too because they enabled it. I hope he helps Remi and River clean up the mess. He owes them that much.

Regardless, I still don’t think he is going to want to go crawling back to Jocelyn and Mark because really all that happened was they now know he is in high school and won’t invite him to their parties. He may feel like he has even more to prove now. Will Eun come to his rescue? 😏 Unless when he left he did go to Jocelyn and Mark??? Nah. That would be too easy. Home is now his crappy ‘Uni’ apartment. Lol.

    I don’t know why I find this so funny….Sorry.

    1. Hahaha it’s okay to be amused by this. It’s such a disaster! And yes, the tears did nothing to help him hahaha but like you said, he’s only 16 (and quite sensitive). He’s now the laughingstock of everyone, poor kid… But I also think you’re right, this won’t be enough to get him going home. He’ll just curl up into a ball in his little shithole apartment and be sad. XD

But maybe it’ll help open his eyes to some of the mistakes h’s made?

        1. It’s a 50/50 chance right now… Zayne can be unpredictable! 😛 Half the time he’s annoying and cocky and stubborn and half the time he’s pretty insightful for his age and aware of his flaws, so… Find out Saturday? 😛

    2. I just realized I forgot to answer your question about how I got the party so big! I have the Full House mod, which allows more more than 8 sims in a household. Normally the cap is 24 sims, but you can override the mod to allow more. After backing up my entire game, I took a chance and put FIFTY sims into one household. No, I am not exaggerating. It was exactly 50 haha (48 guests, including my main characters, Rory, and her friend’s mother (who ended up not being in any shots, whoops haha). My game was unbearably slow and it crashed twice while I was screenshotting the chapter (that was a HUGE pain. I had to set everyone up again each time!). It was exhausting but I loved being able to have EVERY casting call sim there 🙂

  4. I think I may be the only one rooting for Zayne *not* to go back home. Everyone needs to grow up sometimes and Zayne knows better than anyone that you can’t always count on your parents to bail you out.

Yeah it’s hard, and yeah, he’s screwing up pretty badly, but I guess I see that as a learning process? I mean, he overcame his fear of cooking, is getting a concept of working for a living, and making those social blunders that we all make.

    1. I love this perspective! It’s very unique, and I think you make some good points here. He’s definitely learning (sometimes in the hard way haha) Maybe he can grow enough from this that he stays in his apartment for the long haul… We’ll see!

  5. Zayne😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 my poor rebellious prince how could they be so cruel! There there come here. Takes Zayne in my arms and rocks in a rocking chair.

Now listen to to Mama WitcHazard. See what happens when you tell lies. Weaving webs of lies isn’t something we should do after all we’re not spiders Zayne . Although some are better at it than others. (Eyes Lady from afar) So now on I want you to tell the truth and apologize to those who you lied to. Cause they can hurt just as bad as a knife does. Now I’m not telling you to go home.
(Lady interjects) Cause we want you to suffer more!
(Mama) Ssh! This is a learning experience and I hope you grow from it and become a better person. Okay now go make better choices. (Waves as Zayne walks away)
(Lady) You do know it’s going to be Double Penalty He’ll for him right?
(Mama) Go easy on him for me!
(Lady sighs) Well since you asked………NO! (Lady runs off cackling)
    (Mama) Where did I wrong!

  6. Poor Zayne, but also get it together. Lies always come back around and bite you in the booty; it was only a matter of time. Still, that’s horrifically embarrassing. Maybe now he can be an ACTUAL grown up about the whole damn situation.

    1. Hopefully this will have some kind of positive outcome in the end, yes! For now… He’s just mortified. He brought this on himself, but I also feel bad for him haha

  9. Well at least the party was definitely not boring, right? Hahaha! I did not expect Rory to show up, that was awesome, lol at her description of alcohol (and well, everything else she said and did. Kids are so honest!)

Coleen seems great, and is very pretty. Is River actually getting serious? And OMG Matteo’s story 😮

I do feel a bit bad for Zayne, but there’s no way it wouldn’t have come out eventually. Victoria’s reaction was fairly mild, considering, haha! She had every right to be angry. The others were pretty harsh though.

Oh, Eun seemed to be loving the whole thing hahaha! Loved his quiet amusement.

    1. Definitely not a boring party, you’re right! LOL! Glad you enjoyed Rory. She’s so stinkin’ cute 😀

And yes, River is actually getting serious with Coleen 😮 She picked a good one… Like you said, she’s a great person and is also very pretty 🙂

Zayne totally should have known it would all fall apart sooner or later… But I kinda feel bad for him too! And Eun was definitely just amused by it all 😉

  10. Hahaha! What a great chapter! I have to say that the moment I saw the shot with Mateo sizing up Victoria, I knew he’s after her. 😀 Didn’t expect it to happen exactly this way, but I guess she’s available now. 😀
Enjoyed all those pictures so much! Eun’s presence didn’t go unnoticed by me. Looked he was mildly amused as he always seems to be at these parties. The silent observer. 🙂

  11. Bahahahahaha! You know, I thought I’d feel like bashing Zayne’s face in when Victoria learned the truth, but I don’t. Maybe later. I think I’m the only one here, so far, who doesn’t have anything sympathy for him. Yeah, I don’t like that he was embarrassed, cried, and walked away, but he totally deserved it! I may or may not have laughed at the jokes too LOL. I would love to believe that this could be his wake up call, buuuuuuuut, our spoiled brat prince is a bit thick in the head I fear. (sigh) Waiting for it…

Victoria…I’m sorry! Welcome to young adult life LOL.

    1. Haha yeah so far you and only one other person feel no sympathy for Zayne… but I can’t entirely blame you. He totally brought this on himself with all his lies.

And I’m sure Victoria will bounce back from this 😛

    2. You’re definitely not the only one here, Jes. I don’t feel much sympathy for him either. Well, I didn’t like how they treated him, but all in all he got himself into this mess by his own doing. You can’t start a friendship with a lie, let alone a relationship with a girl. They accepted Dom, they would have accepted him too. Now they won’t.

  12. I know Zayne lied because he wanted to hang out with Remi and River’s friends, but if I were them, I would think Zayne is pretty cool because he is only 16 and his parents let him live in his own place. Although Zayne may not be the type to think about that when he lied before. 😐

    1. I love that perspective haha I think if Zayne had been honest from the get-go, people would feel more like that. Instead, they’re just angry and feel annoyed that he lied (so many of them are getting mean about it).

By the way, I don’t think I’ve seen you comment before. Thank you so much for reading! 🙂

  13. As terrible as I feel for Zayne, I’m glad at least my Holly seems to be having a great time at this party. Selfish I know…

But hey, he did lie. I wonder if he’ll patch things up with Victoria or if something else will happen.

I do know he won’t be able to lie anymore. What will happen with Eun, I wonder? He appears to be at the party and looking totally smug. I feel like maybe he already knew, but he seems to enjoy the fallout of it way too much. Then again it keeps him from using it as leverage to keep Zayne working for him, if that was ever his plan.

So I guess Zayne’s going to stop being invited to parties and stuff, and this whole apartment life deal is going to go sour for him fast now that he doesn’t get to just go out and have fun. Maybe he’ll grow up a bit.

But there’s no way no one’s going to find out about the party. All those drunk college kids? There’s going to be such a mess in that house, and, well, word gets out. Joce is going to find out sooner or later from someone. Plus Rory saw it, and good luck keeping a young kid quiet about something like that.

Zayne is in so much trouble… and I wonder if he’ll be forced to come home when Joce finds out? Or if she even legally can make him come home?

    1. Good question about Eun! He definitely had a smug little smile as he watched it all unfold. We’ll find out in the next chapter where Zayne will go from here. And as for the party being kept secret, well, that will also be addressed (though not in the next chapter)

      Thanks for reading!

On a lighter note, it would be awesome to see Remi date the mixologist! Tbh, I was kind of hoping that she would have changed her mind about her fellow worker and start a friendship with Remi (:

You’re right, it was kind of inevitable that the truth would come out! And as for the mixologist (hey, good memory!), yes Remi is still crushing on her, but as we can see, she’s still laughing along with her fellow mixologist friend. 😦

      Thanks again for reading!

So happy to see my sim at this party though. 😀

His family was really feeling his pain though, none of them looked happy. Anyone think he’s going to be a classic Rosebrook and blame them for “not having his back”? As if they’ve done anything but help hide his lies. And seriously, who invited Dom to the party? I bet Charlie did…
And Eun’s smile next to the sad faces nearby was creeeeeeeeeeeeepppyyyyyyyyy.
Side note, Damion is so freaking cute. If I were still playing a legacy, I’d download him as a future spouse, lol.

    1. I love Damion! I can’t remember who made him but he’s definitely adorable!

As for the blame-game, well, in the next chapter we’ll see how Zayne feels and who he blames after everything fell apart…

  18. WOW! part of me wants to feel sorry for the poor kid….NOT. He was so desperate to fit in and be all grown up that he never realized how deep into his own lie he had gotten himself. Well it all came to a head now poor fool. He’s such a hard head.
