5.24: Impressed

Dear Diary,

Well, this was unexpected.

I just got a text a little bit ago inviting me to a party this weekend… Not that weird, right? Mila always has people over, and Greta keeps promising she’s gonna have some massive party the next time her parents are away.

But it wasn’t one of my friends who texted me this time. It was ZAYNE.

I seriously had to check about five times to make sure it was actually him and he was seriously inviting me to his own party. And he was!

So now I’m sitting here still debating how to reply.

I mean, my first thought is “Why me?” With how he’s been acting lately… I dunno. He’s got that whole “I’m so cool because I hang out with uni students” attitude every time we talk to him (Which is totally ridiculous and honestly getting pretty damn old). So you’d think the last thing he’d do is invite one of us lowly plebs to his party.

Of course, another part of me is honestly impressed that he’s gotten to the point where he can actually host his own party.

I won’t lie – at first I was expecting him to crash and burn with this whole ‘living on his own’ thing. But I’m really glad he hasn’t. And not just for all the selfish reasons either.

He wasn’t doing so great at first, but from what I’ve heard, his grades are going up a little, he’s been paying his bills on time, and he’s making tons of money at his job (he was even able to afford Christmas gifts for everyone this year! Small ones, of course, but still.) I know he really wanted this, and he was so determined to prove to everyone that he could do it. I guess he really was ready for this after all… And I’m really happy for him.

But yes, there are some other plus sides to this whole thing too… And it probably makes me a selfish bitch for thinking them.

It’s just really nice to have mom not worrying as much about Zayne. I mean at first, she worried constantly. It was worse than when he was living here at home! But I think she’s finally used to him not being around anymore. Of course, she’s still over-the-moon every time he stops by for a visit… But I don’t mind that.

01-18-17_8-17-57-pm

I guess it’s the little things. Like, mom makes her special brussels sprouts with dinner now. Zayne hates them, so she never used to make them before. Now she’s been making them about once a week. And we don’t have to deal with her nagging Zayne or talking about him all the time either. He always used to be the center of like, every dinner conversation. But not anymore.

But I think the best part is that mom’s been spending so much more time with us than she used to. “Girls Days”, we call them. Seeing a chick flick, getting our nails done, going shopping… Mom never wanted Zayne to feel left out, so we’d have to pick a day when he had plans with one of his friends, or when Mark or Opa could do something with him. Now, we have them whenever we want.

Anyway, the bottom line is, Zayne moving out has been really great – for all of us.

But I’m still pretty interested in seeing how he’s doing on his own.

I haven’t even been over to his place since he first moved in. Might be nice to finally get to see where he’s been living for all this time, right? And it’d be pretty cool to hang out with Remi and River too. I haven’t seen them in a while…

And I’m definitely interested to meet some of these new uni friends Zayne’s been making. I guess part of me is a little jealous about that. Not that I’m not grateful for the friends I’ve got… But I’ve met a couple of Remi and River’s friends before, and they’re so cool. I kinda can’t help but wonder what it’d be like to hang out with those kinds of people all the time.

Finally going to my first-ever uni party will be some decent practice, huh? Guess I’ll have to let Ben know we’ve gotta bail on Finn and Julia this weekend.

We have a party to go to.

  1. Oh, boy.

Isn’t it something of a mainstay that the more a party is hyped up in a story, the worse it’ll crash and burn.

I’ll be surprised if the cops don’t show up (for whatever reason, of which there’s quite a lot of them)

  2. Another positive episode for Zayne! Glad Charlie is getting Jocelyn’s attention since she’s wanted more of it for the longest time. So he just invited Charlie huh. Very convenient the one person who a couple chapters ago was debating on whether she tell her mom if something bad was happening to Zayne. This upcoming party is definitely going to be interesting! Maybe I might even get to debut the Double Penalty Clause so we’ll see.

    1. Zayne is living all the positive points 😉

And yes, Charlie is the only one he invited 🙂 Despite everything, those two are actually the closest with each other, so she made the most sense for him to invite 🙂

And she’s definitely loving the attention from her mom ^_^

        1. Well since Tony isn’t into partying and Alex mocks him all the time, Zayne just stuck to Charlie to invite to his first uni party. He might consider extending the invite to at least Alex in the future, but he’s being careful about his guest list for now 🙂

            1. I’m not sure yet 🙂 I will be writing a chapter tonight and if I end up getting to the stage where I’m ready to screenshot, I might be 🙂

  3. So he only invited Charlie. Interesting. But it was good to see her happier for awhile. Wonder if he will have to invite Eun….I can see him there giving out free drugs to get everyone hooked…no, never, never….this is going to be a really good party…Zayne will fool everyone. No Eun, just a mildly wild party. Hah! I have no idea…Maybe Zayne will hook up…

    Can’t wait for THE party.

    1. Yup, Charlie was the only one who got an invite! Despite her hidden resentment, Zayne and Charlie are actually the two closest our of the four kids 🙂 So she’d be his first pick to invite 🙂

We’ll have to see whether Eun is there, and if any drugs make an appearance… hopefully not!

  4. I’m actually kinda surprised that Zayne invited the triplets (i’m assuming he invited All of them). I Mean, he’s got this “i’m too cool for school” going on, so i thought he would only invite his uni friends. So i’m happily surprised 🙂

  5. Charlie is smart, I’m sure she won’t let Zayne fool her. I predict she starts being suspicious once she sees his apartment and the new stuff he must have bought. You know, like, the job of a dishwasher can’t pay so well.

    1. Hahaha that’s a great point! Though Zayne hasn’t spent a lot of his money on himself actually. He’s been kind of generous 😂 Christmas gifts for his family have been his biggest splurge so far!

But affording all the food and alcohol for the party… a bit suspicious for sure 😛

  6. Charlie, I wish you were right, but surely even you must see how suspicious it is for a minimum wage worker to be able to afford all that he’s spending money on…

Oh and I can only imagine when she sees how gross his apartment is because he hasn’t cleaned…

Maybe Charlie can talk some sense into him or at least get to the bottom of things. Also maybe Charlie will get a cute boyfriend or girlfriend from the casting call sims!

I have the feeling it’s going to be Charlie instead of Joce who’s worrying about Zayne in the very near future…

    1. I like your theory about Charlie getting to the bottom of things! It’s a definite possibility! As for Charlie meeting someone, she actually already has her boyfriend Ben, remember? 🙂 I think she might try to make a few non-romantic friends though! 🙂

      1. I’m getting forgetful in my not-quite-old-yet age.

Yeah, I remember Ben (sorry I forgot, he was sending her those risque texts and everything!). If I’d thought of him I’d probably be wondering which of the three girls was seeing him, though… I’m bad like that sometimes. It’s not that I’m not paying attention, I promise! But I’ve had a lot going on at work and home, plus playing the new Vampires game pack. So I guess I’m a little distracted!

  7. Joce no longer being worried about Zayne sounds like a pretty bad sign. It’s probably a defense mechanism on her part, she desperately wants to believe he’s doing fine so she’s not questioning his newfound wealth – surely as an adult managing her own finances she should be able to calculate what he can afford on his salary (after all, that was the whole reasoning behind letting him move out in the first place).

Definitely can appreciate’s Charlie’s sentiments here, must be lovely to feel like she finally has her mother back. Charlie felt very likable to me in this chapter.

    1. You bring up a great point here! Down the lint it will be mentioned what Zayne’s excuse is for where the extra money is coming from 😉 But I also think it could definitely be something of a defense mechanism in Joce’s part too!

I’m glad you liked Charlie in this chapter 🙂 She’s a nice girl, she just has some complicated feelings regarding her family haha

  8. Ha! I love that you’re imagining terrible things for poor Charlie! 😂

And yes, Joce (and Charlie!) approve of your Brussels sprouts 😛

  9. Hm I’m not sure what to make of this chapter. I guess it’s nice that Zayne hasn’t forgotten about the triplets. But I know if they find out about Zayne’s little side business they have to tell Joce (Tony made them promise right? I guess dealing drugs qualifies as REALLY BAD) and then everything is going to go to shit…

  10. *Snorts*

I promised my friends today that i would be at the up coming parties they want to have as the one sobre one to drive and mop up the sick and stop them getting abducted so I hope someones promised that to Zayne so he has someone to pick up the peices when it all goes horribly wrong. Cant wait!

  11. This is not going to be good. No. No. No.
I’m glad the girls have more time with their mom, but Zayne is going to mess up royally somehow… and I’m all caught up so I have to wait QAQ

    1. Hooray! I’m so glad you caught up! ^_^ We will have a new chapter in like an hour 😛 I post four new chapters a week, so you never have to wait more than one day without a new chapter ^_^

  12. I’m so happy that Joce is paying more attention to the girls now. They had to give up a lot for Zayne as well even though their father came along. I know Zayne lost everything but no one ever addresses the changes the girls had to go through. Well I hope nothing terrible happens at this party but things have been sorta quiet so its time for some more DRAMA.

    1. Haha Drama will come, I promise! 🙂 (though I’ll warn you, Gen 5 is my calmest generation. I tried to give everyone a break after the Joce rollercoaster 😂 So it’s a lot of character development and less over the top drama 😛 But there is definitely still some ahead 😉 )

And yes, I’m glad they’re getting attention too! This was a big ordeal for the girls to go through and sharing attention with Zayne isn’t easy!
