Interlude: What Happened? (PG-13 Version)

Important Note: This is the PG-13 version of this chapter. If you are looking for the full/R-rated version, please go back to the previous chapter, or click hereIf you’ve already read the R-Rated version, nothing to see here, folks! 😛 (It’s literally identical minus a few screenshots and a couple paragraphs of text)

Otherwise, enjoy (and take note that, despite the PG-13 rating, it’s a fairly strong PG-13, with some nudity (the return of Tobi-tushy!)

——————————————–

Tobi rubbed his eyes wearily as he swung his legs over the side of the bed. After nearly a week, he was still not used to sleeping in a bed that was not his own. He reached behind him and massaged his lower back gently, though it did nothing to soothe his aching muscles.

1

Ever since his fight with Colette, he’d been spending every night in the spare bedroom that had once belonged to his brother. He’d barely spoken a word to his wife for days. And he hadn’t spoken to Anna for even longer.

Tobi cringed inwardly at the thought. He had not seen Anna for almost two weeks, but the mere thought of her name was enough to send wave after wave of guilt crashing over him… And they hadn’t even done anything. Not really. But they’d come so close. Tobi felt sick when he imagined what could have happened.

And when he thought about what did happen — all those hours spent laughing and smiling with Anna while Colette sat at home alone… He felt even sicker.

2

He lifted himself out of bed and headed into the hallway. The muffled sound of running water reached his ears from one of the bathrooms across the hall. Tobi knew in an instant who it was. His parents were both working that morning, his children had spent the night with Diego and Rachelle, and Clara always showered at night. And she’s probably still sleeping anyway, he thought.

She’d been doing a lot of that lately… Clara still wasn’t quite herself yet, but overall, his sister was much happier now that she’d ended things with Julian. Tobi could tell. And he was so relieved that she was. And maybe someday I’ll be able to forgive myself for keeping her secret…

Tobi shook the thought from his mind and gently opened the bathroom door. The silhouetted figure he saw through the frosted glass of the shower confirmed his suspicions. Lettie.

3

She hadn’t even heard him come in. Or at least, she made no indication that she did. Tobi stood there for a long time, just watching and letting his eyes trace his wife’s nude form as she ran her long fingers through her auburn hair. It had been months since he’d seen her like this. So vulnerable. So beautiful.

4

As he continued watching, Tobi found himself thinking of the first time he’d ever seen Colette’s naked body, pale and perfect under the light of the summer moon all those years ago. He’d been so young and foolish, but even then Tobi knew that he was looking at the most beautiful sight in the entire world… A sight he wanted to see every day for the rest of his life.

What’s wrong with me? Tobi wondered as he pulled his shirt over his head and let his pants fall to the floor with a soft thud. He’d come so close to losing her… And for what? Attention from a younger woman? Some meaningless little fling?

It wouldn’t have been worth it — nothing would be. I’d never trade her for anyone else in the world. He wanted her — and only her — for the rest of his life. And he’d stop at nothing to win her back.

5

Tobi slid open the door of the shower and stepped into the cloud of hot steam. Colette jumped slightly in surprise at the sound and turned to face him. His wife raised an eyebrow at him and opened her mouth to speak, but before she could make a sound, Tobi’s lips were on hers.

6

Colette hesitated for just a moment.

Then she opened her mouth against his.

Colette melted into her husband’s embrace as she ran her small hands over the firm muscles of his shoulders and upper back.  Tobi nipped at her lips with his teeth, relishing in the sound of her sighs as her hot breath mingled with his.

God, I missed this.

7

“I’m sorry.” He whispered fervently between kisses. “I’m so sorry.”

“I love you.” Colette replied breathlessly. “So much.”

Something took over then — something deep and primal that Tobi had not felt in quite some time. In that moment, every one of his senses was assaulted by just one thing — Colette.

When it was all over, they staggered out of the shower together.

As he lifted her eyes to meet hers, Tobi was shocked to find tears trickling slowly down his wife’s pale white cheeks. “Are you okay?” He asked nervously. “Did I hurt you?” It wouldn’t be the first time – sometimes he got a bit too carried away. And, well, Tobi couldn’t remember the last time he’d gotten as carried away as he had a few minutes before.

Colette shook her head and lifted a small hand to wipe away her tears. “I just… I missed this so much, Tobi. I missed you.” She paused for a moment, choking back a small sob. “What happened to us?”

13

Tobi leaned forward, pressing his lips against her forehead for a moment.  “I don’t know.” He confessed as he pulled away from her. “But what I do know is that I fucked up, Lettie. And I swear to God, I won’t make that mistake ever again.”

“It wasn’t just you.” Colette replied sadly. “I should have told you how I was feeling a long time ago… I should have talked to you. I should have tried harder…”

“Maybe we both messed up.” Tobi shrugged his broad shoulders as he spoke. “Either way, we can’t change the past now… But Lettie,” He said seriously, “I promise I’ll make this right, no matter what it takes.” It would be a long road, he knew. A few shared moments of passion would not be enough to solve all their problems… But it was a start.

14

Colette sighed. “It won’t be easy.” Her voice was barely above a whisper. “I’m still so mad, Tobi… And I’m not sure how I’ll be able to trust you again.” She admitted. “I’m not sure I’m ready to forgive you yet.”

“I know. And I don’t blame you… I’m not ready to forgive myself either.” He replied, hanging his head for a moment. “But Lettie, please, please believe me — I love you. And I can’t lose you. I won’t.”

His wife placed a small hand against his cheek. “You’ll never lose me.” She promised.

  1. I love how there are no comments on this one, lol. Everyone went for the R-rated version.

LOL! I am seeing that XD I like to think that there is some lurker out there who appreciated my PG-13 version 😛

      • Oh, I’m sure. Plus, if someone really did seek out the PG-13 version, I imagine they aren’t going to write a comment like, “yay for the passionate sex,” lol. I totally get why you had this version of the story. And me being the fangirl that I am, I read and enjoyed both versions.

I started the R-rated one. I’m British so I didn’t really know what R means. Now I do. (When it got too disturbing I switched over. No offence!) Thank you for the toned-down version. The only poor, innocent teenager who reads this legacy really appreciates that. (I won’t tell you my age, but I’m fairly sure I’m much younger and more innocent than anyone else here! :p )

Yay, Tobi. We’re starting down the right path. This makes me very happy. There’s hope for #TeamToCo yet! I knew they wouldn’t let there relationship crumble into nothing. I am one very happy, if slightly distirbed, dalmatian 😉

Hahahahaha I’m sorry that you didn’t understand the rating on the first chapter! And I’m sorry if it disturbed you! I am sorry if you were uncomfortable with this toned-down version too. It is still quite sexual. It was very hard for me to convey what I wanted to without making it sexual. So I’m sorry for making you uncomfortable!

This one was mainly detailed descriptions of how much they love each other and making out so it was just fine. I meant the R-rated one disturbed me. (Which isn’t your fault – you didn’t know I only understand British ratings) I didn’t notice that this one was sexual. I obviously glossed over those bits! XD

I was curious, so I read this version too, and I probably prefer it. Though my initial comment about his clothes still stands haha!

      Hahahaha again, I’m surprised!

I get though that not everyone enjoys reading steamier scenes. I guess for me, the steaminess of the R-rated version is better, because it truly shows the passion they have.

This one feels so flat and empty to me, by comparison! But I’m glad someone liked it haha

I appreciate that you made a PG version! I don’t think I’m of an appropriate age to read R rated stuff 😛
I’m glad that Tobi’s making an effort, but they’ve got a long way to go for sure.

Oh yes, this definitely is not enough to solve all of their problems. But it was an important first step 🙂

  6. I admire every responsible teenager that decided to read this instead of the R rated version. My teenage self would definitely chose the first one 😀

LOL! Mine probably would have too 😛 I knew I had some younger readers and I wanted to give them the option. However I actually prefer the R-rated version (besides it being hot or something 😂 Tobi “taking care” of Colette first and being so attentive to her and her needs shows that he is really trying to change and not just use her as a “sex toy”, as she so bluntly put it haha and unfortunately I couldn’t figure out a PG13 way to convey that, so that important detail was lost) so I am glad most people chose that one! But I was also glad to spare the young and innocent 😂

      • You’re right. I’m not a big fan of sex scenes in writing – it usually reminds me of those really cringey erotic novels for women, with illustrated couple on the cover. But this was definitely not the case. It had a purpose.
Reading this after the R rated version felt a bit incomplete. And this sentence “When it was all over, they staggered out of the shower together.” It was almost harsh, like something important was missing.
So really, good job with the R rated version. I imagine it takes courage to write something like that! 🙂

Thank you! This was the most terrifying thing I’ve ever written, to be completely honest haha. I was so nervous about it, but with the arc Tobi and Colette had, it really felt right to have an actual sex scene. Believe it or not I wrote this chapter early and spent WEEKS working on it and editing it because I was so nervous about making it good! I didn’t want it to feel over-the-top or gratuitous (like those cheesy romance novels!) and I’m so glad it didn’t feel that way 🙂 I had a few readers who didn’t like the R-rated chapter, and that hurt… but comments like yours make me feel confident again 🙂

I haven’t written a chapter this sexual since, but now that I have the experience I will feel more confident if there’s a time in the future where a scene like this feels necessary 🙂
